Tomb of Puhaddin

Introduction

Puhaddin was a descendent of the prophet Mohammed who came to Yangzhou in the 13th century to promote Islam. He died on a boat returning from Shandong and his remains were buried at this site. Puhaddin’s Tomb is in an area shaded by ginko trees with simple pavilions which meld Chinese and Arabic architectural elements. There is leading to Puhaddin’s Tomb a flight of magnificent carved stone steps.
