Big Dragon Pool
4km (2 miles) south of Liuzhou city is the Big Dragon Pool named after the mythical dragon is said to live in the waters and has the power to control thunder and rain. This 1 sq km pool is where Tang dynasty poet Liu Zongyuan prayed for rain on behalf of the local people so that harvests would be plentiful. Liu wrote about his prayer sessions his works and described the powers of the dragon by referring to the pool as the "thunder tomb," a name that is still used. Seven hills, known as the Seven Lady Peaks circle the pool, embracing visitors in divine nature.
